Ingredients

  • 250 Gram Lady Finger(bhindi)
  • 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seed (Rai and Sarson)
  • 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seed (Rai and Sarson)
  • 1 Teaspoon Fenugreek (Methi)
  • 2 Pieces Green Chili (Slit)
  • A Pinch Turmeric (Haldi) Powder
  • 1 Medium Onion(pyaaz) (Chopped)
  • 2 Pieces Garlic Cloves (Chopped)
  • A Pinch Red Chili Powder (You can adjust according to requirement )
  • 1 Teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • Water (As Required)
  • 3 Teaspoon Tamarind Pulp
  • 10 Gram Jaggery
  • Coriander Leaves (As Required)
  • Coconut (Khopra) (Grated)
  • Table Salt (According to taste)

Method of Preparation

Step 1

Heat up oil in a non-stick pan. When oil heats up, add okra, salt and saute for a while till fried well. Later, keep aside in a bowl.

Step 2

In another non-stick pan, heat up oil. When oil heats up, add mustard seed, fenugreek seed and saute for a while.

Step 3

When seed starts sputtering, add chopped onion, garlic, green chilli and saute for a while, till onion turns translucent.

Step 4

Add fried lady finger, salt, turmeric powder, coriander powder and saute for a while. If okra starts sticking to the base, sprinkle some water and saute for a while.

Step 5

Add tamarind extract and jaggery and saute for a while, till okra turns tender.

Step 6

Serve hot, garnished with coriander leaves and coconut.
