Chili Paneer Dry

Spicy Indo Chinese starter which is so tempting that you would definitely want to have it.

Main Ingredient(s): Paneer


  • 250 Gram Paneer (Cubed)
  • 2 Tablespoon Corn Starch
  • 0.25 Teaspoon Dried Red Chili (Lal Mirch)
  • 0.5 Teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 Teaspoon Black Pepper(Kali Mirch )
  • 2 Tablespoon Oil
  • 1 Medium Onion(pyaaz) (For Sauce )
  • 1 Medium Capsicum(shimla mirch) (Cut in square, For Sauce)
  • 1 Inch Ginger (Chopped, For Sauce )
  • 8 Small Garlic Cloves (Chopped, For Sauce )
  • 4 Pieces Green Chili (Sliced, For Sauce )
  • 1 Tablespoon Soya Sauce (For Sauce )
  • 1 Teaspoon Sweet Red Chili Sauce (For Sauce )
  • 1 Teaspoon Green Chili Sauce (For Sauce )
  • 0.25 Teaspoon Dried Red Chili (Lal Mirch) (For Sauce )
  • 0.25 Teaspoon Confectioner Sugar( Powdered Sugar) (For Sauce )
  • 2 Tablespoon Water (For Sauce )
  • Table Salt (As Required, For Sauce )
  • 1 Teaspoon Celery (Chopped, For Sauce )
  • 0.25 Teaspoon Black Pepper(Kali Mirch ) (For Sauce )

Original recipe makes 3 Servings


Method of Preparation

Step 1
Pat paneer to remove excess water.
Step 2
Slice the paneer in cubes or rectangles and keep aside in a mixing bowl.

Step 3
Peel and finely chop ginger and garlic cloves and chop 3 to 4 green chillies and keep aside.

Step 4
Take one medium onion and remove outer layers and finely chop it. Besides, slice a medium capsicum in squares and remove its seeds and pith. 

Marinating and  Frying Paneer
Step 1
Add corn starch, red chilli powder, black pepper powder and salt to the paneer cubes and gently mix, taking care that they don't break.

Step 2
In a non-stick pan, heat up oil  over medium flame and fry paneer cubes.

Step 3
When the paneer is slightly cooked, take out and place on a plate. 

Step 4
In a  bowl, add soya sauce, green chilli sauce, sweet red chilli sauce, teaspoon red chilli powder and black pepper.

preparing the sauce

Step 1
In the same pan in which you fried paneer, add finely chopped ginger-garlic and green chillies and stir properly.

Step 2
Add onion and capsicum squares.

Step 3
Over medium flame, stir fry till the edges of the onions and capsicum get cooked, add the mixed sauces.

Step 4
Add a pinch of salt and sugar and stir well.

Step 5
Add corn starch paste and stir again and add soya sauce or chilli sauces or sugar or salt if required.

Step 6
To this cooked mixture, add fried paneer cubes and mix it.

Step 7
If you want can garnish with some coriander leaves or spring onion greens and serve.
