Lady finger coated with chickpea flour and all spices makes the dish all time favourite.

Main Ingredient(s): Lady Finger(bhindi), Chickpea Flour/Gram Flour ( Besan)


  • 3 Tablespoon Chickpea Flour/Gram Flour ( Besan)
  • 2 Cup Lady Finger(bhindi)
  • 0.5 Teaspoon Cumin (Jeera or Jira)
  • 0.5 Teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • 0.25 Teaspoon Fennel Seed(Saunf)
  • 0.25 Teaspoon Turmeric (Haldi) Powder
  • A Pinch Asafoetida Powder
  • Table Salt (As Required)
  • 0.5 Teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 2 Teaspoon Oil

Method of Preparation


-Rinse and chop lady finger into small pieces and keep aside in a bowl.

Step 1

Dry roast chcickpea flour over medium flame for 30 seconds, till the colour changes to darker brown. Later, keep aside in a bowl.

Step 2

Heat up oil in a non-stick pan. When oil heats up, add asofetida, cumin and coriander powders and fennel seeds and mix well and cook for few seconds, till it starts sputtering.

Step 3

Mix turmeric and red chili powder.

Step 4

Mix okra and mix well to coat over medium flame for approximately 10 minutes. 

Step 5

Mix salt and cook for 5 minutes till, lady finger turn tender.

Step 6

Mix chickpea flour, salt as required and mix well. If needed sprinkle some water, so that chickpea flour doesnt stick to the base. 

Step 7

When cooked properly, switch off the flame and take down the wok and serve garnishing with coriander leaf.
